As we gather one more time before breaking for summer, Crilli DNB are proud to announce an extra special guest for our next show: the legendary DJ DIE.
A foundational figure in the evolution of UK drum & bass, DJ Die will bring decades of innovation and energy to the decks at Ulster Sports Club on Saturday 14th June.
As a founder member of seminal Bristol record label Full Cycle, Die and his peers created a unique sound in UK dance music with their inimitable “Bristol rollers” style. You only need to look as far as the Full Cycle and V Recordings back catalogue to realise the scale of impact they had on the genre back in the day.
Perhaps best known for his groundbreaking work in the 1990s as part of Roni Size / Reprazent, DJ Die was instrumental in shaping the Bristol sound that redefined dance music. As a key part of the Mercury Prize-winning group, Die co-produced "New Forms", helping to push drum & bass into mainstream consciousness and onto global stages.
However, DJ Die is far from a heritage act. In recent years he’s remained firmly at the cutting edge of UK bass music, through his solo productions and collaborations, his genre-spanning label Gutterfunk Records and as part of Watch The Ride – a powerhouse of a trio featuring DJ Die, Dismantle and the legendary DJ Randall, who tragically passed away in 2024.
As Watch The Ride, the trio breathed new life into that infamous Bristol rollers sound once again, releasing landmark records and collaborations with the likes of D Double E, Inja, Trigga, Addison Groove and Nia Archives.
