the Huddled Masses is a fourteen-member brass band based here in Maine's mid-coast area. "We love playing at these outdoor festivals, and Belfast Summer Nights is a terrific series of free concerts showcasing the talent here," said Joe Niemczura the leader. "We're honored to be on the schedule for summer 2025."

the lead vocalist is Lara Rakocevic, the Serbian-American nightingale. Ms. Rakocevic fronts the band, and spent a month in Beograd recently where she replenished her supply of party tunes and love songs.
We will also be joined by special guest stars, Jasmine Cabanaw and her troupe of "fusion dancers," a middle eastern inspired style of movement. Sure to get the crowd fired up.
the band produces a blazing brass sound, bolstered by Dan Wenger, Margot Bridgett, Peter Yanz and Paul Greenstone on low brass. (tuba and trombones, ec). "We will be alerting the Coast Guard as to our playing by the bay, due to the long-range transmission of low vibrations. It's possible for passing whales to confuse the tuba with a mating call and we are mindful not to present a hazard to ocean navigation," Joe said with a twinkle in his eye.
"Likewise, the percussion section, led by Evan Lattimore and anchored by John Koonz and Niomi West, will be featured on some African-style dance music."
"the band is known for their Serbian brass repertoire, but since we also do wedding receptions, we will include some Caribbean music like the Limbo dance. Any Waldo County resident that fancies themselves to be a limbo star, will be sure to reveal their hidden talent. Now is the time."
the band also includes Peter Daley and John Herzfeld on saxophone; Fred Guterl and Joe Niemczura on trumpets.
