This May we will explore the ongoing role that Asian Americans have played in shaping the United States. Join us each Saturday as we screen one episode of the film series Asian Americans and discuss AAPI heritage and identities with special guest speakers.

An American-born generation straddles their country of birth and their parents’ homelands in Japan and Korea. Those loyalties are tested during World War II, when families are imprisoned in detention camps, and brothers find themselves on opposite sides of the battle lines.
Guest Speaker: Tya Ping
Hope parent and first API woman to be elected to the THPRD Board of Directors. Ping is a healthcare provider who has served on the Beaverton City Library Advisory Board and the Washington County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
Weekly Host: Jade Henness
President of the Asian Heritage Association of Yamhill County, Jade regularly gives presentations on Asian American history. She is also the Developoment Director of Hope Chinese Charter School where her two children are enrolled.
