BEAVER FALLS, PA – The Eight Bells, Geneva College’s men’s acapella group, will be presenting the annual Eight Bells Concert, supporting the group’s rich musical history of almost sixty years. Under the direction of Benjamin Kennedy (’18), the Eight Bells will be performing at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3rd, at the Geneva College Music Center.
In similar fashion to last year, the Grace Notes will begin our concert, under the direction of Kathryn Copeland Donaldson, presenting a wide range of musical styles, including show tunes and "classic" popular music. Following the Grace Notes, we are excited to be rejoined by the Geneva Flute Choir, under the direction of Kathryn Blocki as they bless us with their dulcet and ethereal tones, featuring songs from the 1600's, all the way to the modern day!
“While many students are anticipating the semester's end, the Eight Bells aren't done yet!" says Director Benjamin Kennedy. “After a full year of travel and performances, having sung for over 1,000 people, we are excited to be back home at Geneva College. This year has been a time of immense growth on our campus, and for the Eight Bells, as we hone our craft to create an intimate and impactful sound through our singing. Please join us for an afternoon of music fit for all ages and tastes, and be blessed by the talents God has given us, that he may be glorified through our labor."
The concert is free and open to all who love music. Anyone who wishes to offer their support may contact Eight Bells Director, Benjamin Kennedy. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with plenty of room for standing in the back, as well.
The Eight Bells were founded in 1967 by Geneva College students with a love for singing. Their name comes from one of the first songs they ever sang; a sea-shanty about the eight bells rung to end the night’s watch. Over the years, the ensemble has had more than a hundred members, supporting the rich musical heritage of Geneva College. Today, the Eight Bells are a subset of The Genevans Choir, the student choir of Geneva College, allowing them to travel across the country and around the world, bringing laughter and joy through their singing.
