The 2025 Smelt Fry is on it’s way! For the first time this century, we plan to net Smelt right from the Beaver River for this event bringing us one important step closer to the tradition that began this event. That all depends on the smelt running in good numbers!
The meal includes an all-you-can-eat original smelt fry recipe, dating back to 1958, along with chips, tartar sauce, coleslaw, and an orange drink. Smelt will be served from 11am-3pm.
Along with this traditional event, the 7th Annual Outdoor Sports Expo will feature local outdoor and adventure businesses with a silent auction benefiting Outdoor Youth Sports in Lake County. Other local vendors will also be present, showcasing their handmade crafts. The Outdoor Expo will be from 11am-5pm.
North Shore Area Partners will be joining us from 3pm-5pm., hosting a meat raffle and a 50-50 raffle!
A cornhole tournament will run from 1pm-3pm. Contact The Green Door for sign up or further information.
This is a family friendly event! There will be a bouncy house for kids aged 1-10 years old and a dunk tank.
We did not forget about live music and entertainment! Music by Timmy Haus from 11am-1pm, Bad Wolf Entertainment will DJ from 1pm-3pm. The night will conclude with Aftershock rocking the Green Door from 5pm-8pm.
Advance sale tickets for $10 are available at The Green Door, Julie's True Value in Silver Bay, and at the Finland Cooperative. Advanced sale tickets are available until May 10, 2025. Tickets purchased thereafter, and on the day of the event, will be $15.
All proceeds benefit next year's Smelt Fry, allowing us to continue this tradition in our community for years to come!
