Join the Boomtown Film and Music Festival and Red Beak Productions for the opening night screening of the festival that will feature projects from the Spindletop Storytellers Student Competition.
The Lamar University Department of Communication and Media in collaboration with the Boomtown Film and Music Festival facilitated a contest for students in sixth through twelfth grade in the Narrative Short, Documentary Short, and Public Service Announcement categories.
The competition was open to high school students in the following counties: Chambers, Hardin, Liberty, Jasper, Jefferson, Newton, and Orange.
The first-place individuals/team members in each category will be awarded a five-hundred-dollar scholarship if they enroll as a major in the Lamar University Department of Communication and Media for Fall 2026. This scholarship is provided by the Lamar University College of Fine Arts & Communication.
Winners of the Spindletop Storytellers Student Competition will be announced at the Boomtown Film and Music Festival Award Ceremony on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at the historic Jefferson Theatre in Beaumont at 6:00 pm.
