The Black Hole & Waterview Creek - Paluma's Best Day Out!
Starting at the Jourama Falls Camping Area, we’ll embark on a scenic journey along the tourist trail, pausing at various lookouts to capture stunning photos. Our adventure continues as we ascend a marked trail to the top of Jourama Falls, where more photo opportunities and a well deserved break await. This section features moderately steep inclines, so we will take it easy. We can spend some time on top of the falls, which offers some amazing views!
We’ll then trek up Waterview Creek, passing by countless beautiful waterfalls and impressive boulder formations on our way to the highlight of our hike – the Black Hole. This massive, breathtaking deep pool, measured at 22 metres deep, is fed by a waterfall cascading into its serene waters. It’s truly one of the best hiking experiences in the Paluma Range National Park.
The Black Hole is approximately 6km from our starting point, situated at an elevation of 570m. We’ll spend some time exploring the area around the Black Hole, taking photos, and enjoying a refreshing dip. This is where we’ll break for lunch.
After lunch, we’ll either rock hop back down Waterview Creek or take up with the Paluma/Jourama Trail, and eventually make our way back down to the Jourama Falls Camping Area.
Please ensure you wear appropriate footwear, as you’ll likely get your feet wet. Removing your shoes can significantly extend the duration of our hike.
The hike will include: On Trail Hiking, Off Trail Hiking and Rock Hopping up Waterview Creek.
