Jae Hyo Chang: Maum Percussion – A Percussive Exploration of the Heart

In Korean, Maum (마음) is a rich and layered word that can mean heart, mind, soul, inner self, identity, or emotion, depending on the context. With Maum Percussion, Jae Hyo Chang hopes to create a series of performances over the coming years. Through percussion music built on simple forms and structures, the artists aims to invite audiences to look inward and to share a moment of emotional resonance with others in the same space.

This performance is an attempt to play the hearts of countless people who have passed down the language of percussion over thousands of years.
