2025 City of Battle Creek Department of Public Works Open House

The City of Battle Creek’s Department of Public Works is excited to invite you to our annual Open House on Wednesday, June 4, from 4-6 pm at 150 S. Kendall St. in Battle Creek. This event is FREE and family-friendly, featuring City vehicles for visitors to explore (and honk the horns!), a scavenger hunt, giveaways including buckets of compost and plants, music, and more! A food truck will be available for those interested in purchasing food and drinks.

Our staff will be present with work vehicles and demonstrations to showcase how we keep the City of Battle Creek running smoothly. The Department of Public Works, with its 170 employees, oversees the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant, Verona Drinking Water Facility, streets, parks, underground sewer pipes, vehicles (including police and fire vehicles), signs and signals, and the City’s solid waste and recycling programs.
