It isn’t all sunshine and rainbows 🌈

Being a parent and carer of a child or young person on the spectrum can be exhausting, not only physically but emotionally and mentally too. The need to always be fighting for things you shouldn't have to takes its toll on you eventually. Being an on demand carer is tiring so taking care of your emotional and mental health helps you not to be pouring from an empty cup. You are your child/young persons foundation and they need you to be at your best. It isn't easy having to be strong and resilient all the time especially when you feel alone, or unsupported. Thats why being part of a group of people who understand your struggles, accept you and understand what your going through is important. It isn't all sunshine and rainbows is a safe, non-judgemental support group where you can openly share your worries, concerns and off-load the stress. Getting it all all means your not carrying it alone, because lets face it, sometimes it gets heavy, and taking care of your emotional and mental health means your more available for your child/young person. Come along to our fortnightly parents and carers ASN support group. Where sharing our experiences, can help us to support each other. Meet new people and take some well deserved time for you! Tea, coffee, biscuits, tissues and hugs are always available at the little lighthouse. Our retreat isn't just for children us adults need support and a listening ear from time to time too. So wether your new to the spectrum parent/carer journey or wether your a parent/carer of 15 years just like me, your always welcome. Each fortnight we meet for 1 hour and 45 minutes there are 8 seats available at the table, you can book fortnightly of four weekly, you book whenever you feel you need to take sometime for you, because you need to remember that you matter too, and i look forward to welcoming each and every one of you to my little safe, accepting and whimsical retreat in the heart of Bathgate, West Lothian!
