What: Auditions for RDC's next original contemporary ballet, "Thursdays Child". A show inspired by Addams family and other famous television monsters. Touching on themes of mother & child relationships in a quirky and satirical way. Choreography styles will feature contemporary ballet with an emphasis on classical ballet technique. Partnering skills are for specific couples. Jazz dancers are welcome for our Lady Gaga piece!

When: Sunday August 31st 1pm-3pm. Please stay for the entire audition, start. to finish. Doors will open 30 minutes early for registrations, as you will have paperwork to fill out.
Who: Dancers and movers ages 18+ of any gender, race, size, orientation, or style! Children's roles are pre-cast and invitation only.
What to expect:
You do not need to bring any audition materials. Please be prepared to improvise as a dancer and actor. We will teach exercises and choreography, and anyone hoping to take on a solo role will need to perform alone. Anyone hoping for a duet, we will be trying some simple partnering to gauge comfort.

Our characters are inspired by The Addams Family and famous tv monsters. Please feel free to put your own spin on the character, it doesn’t need to be a copy of what you’ve watched on tv. Characters are subject to change depending upon all the factors.
Precast - Young Thursday: 10 ish, Female presenting, practical, look is tidy, with touches of whimsy. Actually loves white clothing, wants to smile more, and isn’t at all like her family.
Thursday: 25-30 ish, Female presenting, practical, look is tidy, with touches of whimsy. She has come into her own as an adult. This is a lead role and will include solos and duets. Needs to have light colored hair, or be willing to wear a wig.
Young Lorena: 30s, female presenting, Thursday’s Mom, sensual, focused on her husband more than family, views her family as amusements. Wife, homemaker, loves to entertain, conscious of status. This is a lead role and will include solos and duets. Needs long dark hair, or be willing to wear a wig.
Lorena: 50+, female presenting, Thursday’s Mom in the present day, sensual, focused on her husband more than family, views her family as amusements. Wife, homemaker, loves to entertain, conscious of status. This is a lead role and will include solos and duets. Needs long dark hair, or be willing to wear a wig.
Raphael: 30-50+, male presenting, Thursday’s Dad, successful business owner, deeply in love with wife, family, and life. Warm, friendly, gives generously of his love and time. Could be of Eastern European heritage, such as Romanian. Can be played by two characters to break up scenes. This is a supporting role and will include duets. Needs some type of fancy mustache.
Frenchie: Thursday’s Brother, late 20s/early 30s, male presenting. single? He became a bisexual hipster in his adulthood. This is a supporting role and will include duets.
Best Friend: Any age, any gender. A fire salamander that is friends with Thursday. Acrobatic if possible. A supporting character, multiple duets. Must be willing to wear special effects makeup.
Chad: 25-30 ish, Thursday’s first love, and only boyfriend that she brings home to the family. Light colored costuming, smiling, sweet. Bubbly personality. He must be able to act like he’s been turned into a dog. Included in 1-2 romantic duets, no kissing necessary.
Precast - Evil Twin Thursday: The opposite of Young Thursday. Same height, age, gender. Wears the dark versions of hair, makeup, and clothing. Lurks around the family home after she’s created by the Lady Witch.
Werewolf: Any age, any gender, tall/large muscles. Wears a werewolf mask and costume. Is part of the family, eventually gloms onto Thursday's boyfriend Chad when he’s turned into a dog. Involved in 1 romantic duet, and backdrop for various dances based upon the performers schedule. Must be willing to wear a mask.
Cousin Them: Any age, any gender. Is onstage randomly, has its own strange little personality, but no facial expressions. Background character in various dances based upon the performers schedule. Must be willing to wear a mask.
Church: Any age, male presenting, tall, at least 6 feet. Inspired by “Lurch”. A Frankenstein like man. Background character in various dances based upon the performers schedule. Must be willing to wear special effects makeup.
Lester: Old, bent over, male presenting. A grandfather or great-uncle type character. Creepy and a little sinister. Background character in various dances based upon the performers schedule. Must be willing to wear special effects makeup.
Midwife: Aged 30+, female presenting. There for the birth of Thursday. Probably also the coven of witches. Background character in various dances based upon the performers schedule. Can also be ensemble. Must be willing to wear a mask.
Lady Witch will be featured in “Abbracadabra”. Any adult age, female presenting. She has a classic witches personality, the type to cackle, has a look of crazy in her eyes.
Witches: Any age, female presenting. A coven in traditional black witches garb. Need to be able to dance in an ensemble in synchronicity.
