Join Queer Birders of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Audubon Society for their 79th Annual Cincinnati Christmas Bird Count on Sunday, December 28th! We’ll be meeting at Sycamore Park (Sycamore Shelter) at 7:45 a.m. and the count will go all day (participants are welcome to come and go as they please). We plan to split into 4-5 groups in the morning, meet for lunch, and based off of who’s left, we’ll reconsolidate groups and continue counting. All experience levels are welcome! ☺️
You may be wondering.. what is the Christmas Bird Count (CBC)? The CBC is a census of birds in the Western Hemisphere, performed annually by volunteer birdwatchers. It’s the nation’s longest running community science bird project (125 years) and occurs December 14th-January 5th every season. As you may have guessed, the goal is to count as many birds as possible within a day; data collected allows scientists to study population trends over the last few decades 📉
Feel free to bring a pair of binoculars if you have them, if not, Ash will have a few extras to share in the morning. Don’t forget to RSVP; the link can be found below. If you have accessibility challenges or need a ride, feel free to reach out to Ash at (513) 600-1574. If you have any additional questions regarding the CBC, please reach out to Jack Stenger at
