Parent Education Classes - 4 SESSIONS - Basingstoke

This is a workshop for any families under the care of Hampshire Hospitals due to have their babies by August/September or before. If you are due after this, please consider future events.

Session 1 - Thursday 10th July 18:30-20:30

Session 2 - Thursday 17th July 18:30-20:30

Session 3 - Thursday 24th July 18:30 - 20:30

Session 4 - Thusday 31st July 18:30 - 20:30

Only one ticket per bump - extra ticket for birth partner not required. (Please only bring one extra person)

Held in the Orthopedic gym on A level - I recommend parking in the patient/visitors parking. The stairs furtherst from the entrance from the car park will lead you directly outside the therapy mobility assessment area, which holds a door to the gym. The main therapies department entrance won't be open so please be sure to come to this side door.

There will be a small break in the middle of the session for you to get to know the others in the group. There will also be a small period of time at the end of the sessions for questions/discussions.

Week 1: All things labour, birth, pain relief and when to call the triage line. Please bring along a large scarf

Week 2: Birth location options, choices in maternity care and using BRAIN, writing birth preferences, postnatal care, screening tests for baby, induction of labour and planned caesareans.

Week 3: Perineal massage, mental health and relationships, infant feeding. Please note this is not a comprehensive infant feeding session - for a further class on this please email aW5mYW50ZmVlZGluZ3dvcmtzaG9wIHwgaGhmdCAhIG5ocyAhIHVr with your name and due date and book onto their monthly infant feeding course.

Week 4: Contraception, safe sleeping guidance, ICON and then ending with a mini hypnobirthing/breathing techniques/massage session. - please bring along a yoga mat/pillow/blanket for this session if you wish.
