Spend quality family time together outdoors honing your fire lighting, den-building and bushcraft skills guided by one of our Rangers.
This workshop will begin with a walk in the woods discovering what’s around you and unleashing your creative side using materials found along the way.
Arriving at our Forest Hub you’ll be coached on knife and axe safety as well as techniques for building dens with forest materials. Then it will be up to you and your family to build a den just how you like it, choosing your spot, working together and finessing the design. Have you got what it takes to build a great den together?
Next up, our guide will introduce you to techniques for building and lighting fires and your family can take part in the 5-minute fire challenge.
Lunch will be cooked on fire and feature edible woodland plants collected from the surrounding area and Ewhurst Park Quality Meats. The line-up will include nettle fritters, bbq fare, and family favourite: toasted marshmallows.
After lunch there’ll be nature-based games and activities tailored to the group, and our guide will show you how to connect with nature and yourselves through practical techniques and exercises to last a lifetime.
You’ll also have the opportunity to practice woodworking skills based on your age and ability making, for example, a wand or spoon to take home with you to remember your special day.
