For years, Fondation Beyeler and Nordstern Basel have cultivated a unique dialogue between contemporary art and electronic music—two disciplines that rarely share the same stage, yet thrive when they do. Their collaboration bridges institutional and underground, the contemplative and the immersive, creating cultural formats that resonate far beyond Basel. Whether at Art Basel Miami, Hong Kong, or in bold urban interventions like Zurich’s Main Station, their shared vision has continuously redefined the boundaries of both exhibition and performance. Now, with art.set during Art Basel in June, this partnership returns to its most intimate and emblematic setting: the Nordstern ship, anchored on the Rhine and reimagined as a floating stage for sonic and visual experimentation.
South African artist DESIREE leads the day with a genre-fluid, rhythmically rich set rooted in African house and shaped by her instinctive storytelling. She’s joined by Sezer Uysal, whose melodic, detail-driven sound reflects his deep ties to visual art and adds sculptural depth to the evening’s arc.
MRAK, the solo project of Tale of Us' Carmine Conte, crafts emotive, cinematic journeys using analog synths and blends deep techno, ambient, and melodic influences, creating an immersive journey through sound. His performance is paired with a special intervention by Swiss artist Claudia Comte, known for her bold visual language that merges organic forms with digital precision. Comte will not only contribute an artistic intervention to the night but will also take to the decks herself.
