Study Skills & Self-Advocacy for Students with Learning Differences
This empowering in-person workshop is designed for junior high and high school students who want to build effective note-taking habits and develop self-advocacy skills—especially those experiencing learning struggles such as ADHD autism or other learning differences. Whether you're navigating IEPs 504 plans or simply looking for study strategies that actually work for your brain this class offers real tools from someone who’s been there.
Taught by Emily Vass—an experienced educator military spouse and advocate who identifies as an adult with ADHD and has raised two neurodivergent children—this course blends lived experience with practical guidance. Emily’s family navigated school systems in five states before choosing virtual homeschool for high school. Now with her children thriving as young adults Emily brings her passion for supporting students and families on their own unique educational journeys.
Students will learn:
Note-taking strategies that match different learning styles
How to ask for help and advocate for accommodations
Organization tips for managing homework schedules and stress
Confidence-building tools to feel more in control of their learning
Any student—with or without learning struggles—is encouraged to attend. This workshop is for anyone looking to improve their study habits build confidence and gain tools that support academic success.
