Christina and Richard have planned a full and exciting day of learning for Area 5, built around the themes of Musical Excellence and Leadership Alignment. There will be something for everyone, whether you are a quartet or chorus singer or have a leadership role.
Please note: There are two tracks (Leadership and Music). When you register, you will be asked to indicate which track you are most likely to attend. This is to help with planning the available space, and is not a firm commitment. You are free to choose whichever classes you would like to attend throughout the day.
Presenters:
Richard Lewellen is an international medalist quartet and chorus director in the Barbershop Harmony Society, and is a World Barbershop Quartet Association (WBQA) champion with his quartet, Riptide. He has served as a Singing judge and category specialist in BHS and is the musical director of Bella Nova Chorus, based in Virginia. He is an active quartet singer, currently singing baritone in two mixed quartets, Smitten and Arranged Marriage (2024 Mixed Barbershop Harmony Association champions) in addition to Riptide, which has been active for more than 20 years.
Christina Lewellen is tenor of 2012 Harmony Queens, Epic, and currently sings bass with 2nd place silver medalist quartet Legacy. She is a founding member of Bella Nova Chorus and currently serves as its artistic director, and served as Harmony, Inc.'s International President from 2016-1018. She is a former board member of the Harmony Foundation and is a second-generation gold medalist (her dad is the lead of 2013 Seniors Champs Border Patrol). She is an association CEO in her professional life, and she and Richard have four daughters ages 19 to 23 years!
