This is a unique and exciting opportunity to provide children and the young at heart who commonly experience barriers, physical or otherwise, with a traditional Halloween trick or treating experience!
🎃 Get ready for a spooktacular time! Volunteers from over 40 local businesses will be stationed at barrier-free trick-or-treating tables in the Oatley Vigmond parking lot, creating an inclusive Halloween experience to remember.
To ensure a fun and timely event for everyone, each family is required to register in advance for a 20-minute timeslot. A ticket will be provided for each child that is participating in trick-or-treating 🍬 (tickets are not required for parents or guardians). Free parking is available on-site.
Our Accessible Halloween Village is proudly presented in partnership with Treat Accesibly.
➡️ About Treat Accessibly
The Treat Accessibly initiative was founded in 2017 by the Padulo family after realizing their trick-or-treating setup, which involved stairs, was not accessible to a neighbor who used a wheelchair. Recognizing the need for more inclusive Halloween practices, they relocated their station and questioned how others might also make their Halloween experiences accessible. This led to the creation of Treat Accessibly, a grassroots movement aimed at ensuring all children can enjoy Halloween, regardless of their abilities. Since its inception, the initiative has grown significantly, with over 100,000 homes across Canada participating. These homes proudly display Treat Accessibly lawn signs, signaling their commitment to accessible trick-or-treating and fostering an inclusive community spirit.
