GEORGE BUZA
A Native of Cleveland, Ohio, George was born to Hungarian refugees fleeing Soviet occupation after WWII. He was raised in the Hungarian culture and is still fluent in the language. His exposure to the arts began at an early age, as his mother was an opera singer, and as a young boy attended all his mother's performances. His interest in Theater did not arise until his final year at St. Ignatius High School in
Cleveland, where he was convinced to audition for the role of Mr. Bumble in "Oliver Twist' at a near-by girl's academy in need of male performers. On opening night, the minute he stepped on stage, George knew this was to be his calling in life. Upon graduation, George attended Baldwin-Wallace College (now University) pursuing a degree in Theater Arts, which he achieved with honors and numerous student productions to his credit . ln 1971 he did his apprenticeship to Actors Equity playing small roles at The Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival in Lakewood, Ohio. He finally signed on to Equity in 1974 at Trumpet in the Land in New Philadelphia, Ohio, playing frontiersman Zeke Gibbs in the historical pageant.
ln the fall of that year, George was invited to play in a touring children's production that brought him to Toronto, Ontario and the emerging theater scene. After receiving permanent resident status he continued his theatrical career originating the roles of Bernardo in "Zastrozzi" and the Hooded Fang in "Jacob Two-Two Meets the Hooded Fang", as well as appearing in plays at regional theaters across Canada, including a season at The Stratford Shakespeare Festival.
Eventually roles in film and television took over from theater leading to a very prolific career spanning five decades. Film credits include the role of a cannibal in "Quest for Fire", Mean Gene in "Meatballs III", Verna in the cult horror film "The Brain", Santa Claus in "A Christmas Horror Story", and a cameo role of Trucker in the first X-Men movie, to name a few. George has also played numerous biker roles over the years, as he has been an avid motorcycle enthusiast most of his adult life.
ln television, George has had numerous guest appearances on many series including "The Strain", "Friday the 13th., "Puppets Who K*ll", "Kung-Fu", "Due South", and a recurring role of Dwight Cardiff on "The Red Green Show". As a regular performer on a series, George was Turner, a mutated giant four- year-old on "Maniac Mansion", Doubar, Sinbad's older brother on "The Adventures of Sinbad", and Jake McKenna, the next door neighbor on the Disney series, "Honey I Shrunk the Kids".
For animation, George is best known for being the voice of Beast on "X-Men TAS". ln addition he voiced Chief Chirpa in "Land of the Ewoks", Grandpa in "Beyblade", Grandpa again on "Franny's Feet",
George is married to his wife, Cheryl, and has 11 grandchildren.
