This two-day human trailing workshop is open to all levels and is delivered by Jo Armstrong and Mandy Partridge, both active Search and Rescue handlers, trainers and assessors with over 13 years’ operational experience each.
The workshop focuses on practical, real-world trailing skills, including starting trails, handling the line, reading the dog, problem solving and developing confidence on the trail.
Ahead of the practical weekend, there will be a live Zoom session covering the theory, allowing handlers to arrive prepared and confident. To support newer teams, an article indication workshop with Sooz is included prior to the main event.
Trailing will take place in rural public locations around Morthoe. As these are public spaces, there may be members of the public, other dogs, wildlife and livestock present. Handlers should feel comfortable working their dogs in these environments.
This workshop is aimed at pet dog owners and scentwork or trailing enthusiasts and is not intended for those looking to work professionally in Search and Rescue.
The workshop starts at 9:00am on Day 1.
For anyone wishing to stay locally, there are a number of holiday parks and camping options nearby. Please feel free to contact Sooz for accommodation details or recommendations.
