This 3-hour tour (which includes 2 hours of very-relaxed paddling) takes advantage of the beauty of a full or near-full moon, rising just before, or as the sun sets! Sunset on the river is beautiful: the waters are often mirror-flat, the reflections are magical, the bird-life is more active, the air is deliciously cool and fresh, and the silence and solitude soothe the soul.
Our Guided Sunset Moonlight Kayak Tours are a pleasant, leisurely introduction to kayaking, requiring no previous experience, and offering a variety of scenery, letting you enjoy the beautiful wetlands of Gurra Gurra Creek, the colours of the setting sun on the magnificent sandstone Bookpurnong cliffs as the moon rises across the water, and the mystery of exploration as we navigate the Ajax Achilles Lakes, where we can almost guarantee that the kangaroos or possums will be there to watch you pass.
Our Tours begin by meeting at the Berri Visitor Information Centre, or at your local accommodation (Just phone us and let us know where you'd like to be collected from) After meeting, we travel by car (about 5 mins) to the beginning of our trip, where we unload, fit PFD’s (“life jackets”) and get onto the water. We usually see plenty of birdlife including pelicans, darters, cormorants, terns and parrots.
We take a break along the way for a cuppa, and to enjoy the sun setting across the water. This is a one-way trip, so you get to enjoy new scenery for the whole route.
