Talks

1. Topic: Slashing PHP-cli Memory Consumption: Proven Techniques for High-Performance Applications
Speaker: Max Fomichev, Infrastructure Engineer at Manychat

Struggling with high memory usage in long-running PHP CLI processes? While php-cli is great for bulk data handling, it lacks the memory optimizations of php-fpm—or does it?

This session explores PHP internals, shared memory, and Linux's copy-on-write to uncover surprising optimization opportunities in php-cli. Through a real-world Manychat case study, you'll see how we cut memory usage by 50% using pcntl_fork()—and how you can do the same. We'll also highlight key pitfalls to avoid when applying these techniques.
