Our Saturday festival concert this year is the wonderful Richard Dwyer, playing with old friends Conor Keane and Mary Conroy. It will take place as always in the Allihies Coppermines Museum, a beautiful venue with fantastic acoustics, on Saturday June 7th at 8pm, entry €15. We hope you will join us for this special celebration of Richard Dwyer, who will play some of his own compositions as well as tunes by his talented siblings, Michael, John & Finbarr. Richard is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and composer from Ardgroom, Beara, now living in Ennis, County Clare. His excellent CD and book of 90 original compositions, called In a Creative Mood, was recorded in 2014 and his tunes are played by musicians all over the world.
His musical partners are firstly, Conor Keane, a gifted accordion player from Co Clare, who has recorded and played with bands such as Shaskeen, Arcady and the Four Men and a Dog. He spent two years resident in Brittany where he worked with the legendary Breton singer and writer Gilles Servat. Conor plays the C sharp D accordion, and has a unique style of playing.
Mary Conroy´s distinctive voice and range of repertoire, plus her unique style of guitar accompaniment make up this talented trio. Mary is much in demand and has recorded with numerous musicians, including John Bowe, Rodger Sherlock, Mick Woods & Kevin Taylor. She has been a music presenter with Radio Kerry since 1990, her current programme “Tog Sos“ runs on Mondays from 8-10pm.
We are delighted to welcome this wonderful trio to the 25th Michael Dwyer Festival.
