We're excited to invite you to the 48th Annual Woolly Worm Festival, proudly hosted by the Avery County Chamber of Commerce and Banner Elk Kiwanis!
Mark your calendars for October 18th & 19th, 2025, in Banner Elk, North Carolina, where you'll enjoy woolly worm races, craft and food vendors, live entertainment, and much more.

Important Information:
The Woolly Worm Festival is a ticketed event, with proceeds supporting local schools, children's programs, and promoting businesses and tourism in Avery County.
Limited parking will be available within walking distance to the festival grounds. Most of these parking lots are run by non-profits as a fundraising opportunity for their organizations and are cash only.
NEW THIS YEAR – discounted remote parking will be available on the South Campus of Lees-McRae College and a shuttle service will be provided. Proceeds from this lot go directly back to the college.
Please leave your pets at home—only woolly worms are allowed at the festival.
Tickets can be purchased online via credit card or on the day of the event at the gate.
Ticket Prices (Cash, VISA, Master Card):
Adults: $10.00
Children (Ages 6-12): $5.00
Children Ages (0-5): Free
To avoid lines, purchase your admission tickets online and look out for signs for your dedicated entrance at the ticket gates. Remember to register your woolly worm early to secure a spot in the race!
The festivities begin on Saturday and Sunday at 9 AM, with races kicking off soon after, led by Mr. Woolly Worm, Merriweather and Mistiweather.
