Walk 1: Nant Ffrancon & Afon Ogwen Circular
Approx. 5 miles / 8 km
Difficulty: Medium - 350m elevation gain
3 hours | Boggy in places | 2 swims
Explore one of Wales' most dramatic valleys and swim in a deep and velvety river under the towering Glyderau and Carneddau mountain ranges.
Wear comfy walking shoes/boots, a waterproof (just in case!), suncream/sunhat if warm, lunch and both a hot and cold drink. Please bring a towel and two swimming costumes, an extra layer to put on after swims, gloves/hat.
There are two swims on this walk, one in the middle, and one at the end. Both are optional.
We provide free hire of walking poles, and a tow float, which must be worn when in the water.
No dogs or children on this walk please, over 13s are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
This walk is free for unpaid carers (people who self-define as undertaking care of a loved one with an illness or disability, no proof required), and a suggested £10 donation for non-carers. Please do book your space in order to attend as numbers are limited to 10 spaces per walk. Please click the 'tickets' link to book a spot.

The natural world is a beautiful place to explore, learn and connect with others, the environment and ourselves. Pen Y Bryn Outdoor Learning provides outdoor adventure education that is easily accessed by all, regardless of background, ability, mobility or the ability to pay.
