Control Your Bones’ Fate: STIMULATE! Exercise Guidelines for Bone Health and Osteoporsis – Nicole Mullins, PhD, Director of Fitness and Health, Bangor Region YMCA (In-person, by zoom, and recorded for later viewing)
Seize the opportunity, through this presentation, to learn more about:
(1) Basic bone physiology,
(2) Osteoporosis, and
(3) General principles of exercise prescription for promoting bone health, minimizing bone loss, and managing osteoporosis.
We will address the importance of providing adequate mechanical stimulation to bones, in order to activate the mechanisms that preserve their density and strength. We will discuss common misconceptions regarding optimal exercise for bone health, as well as exercise-related safety concerns. Finally, we will provide ample time to address attendee questions. Please join us for this class, to stimulate your mind and to inspire you to do as much as you can to control your bones’ fate!
The Summer Extravaganza Course meets on Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. July 1, 15, 29, August 4, 12, 19, 26. UMA-Bangor, Eastport Hall 135. The $35 tuition fee covers all seven sessions.
