Today, I am here to teach you about the Noble Eightfold Path (Magga). The first one is Right Wisdom, which is like the engine at the head of a train. The rest are the train cars. So, the first one is Right Wisdom, the second is Right Thought, and the third is Right Speech. What are the remaining ones, everyone? I want you to guess, and then I'll reveal the answers! When you compare the composition of the Noble Eightfold Path to a train,
what must you start with first? What is the part that if it’s missing, then a train cannot run?
The base for running is the rail; the base for gaining wisdom is concentration (samādhi). Now, everyone, fix your mind firmly to break free from mental bonds and listen to me. Try to place your mind in the middle, then contemplate thus: Ignorance causes suffering, greed, anger, and delusion are twofold deceptions. Be aware of these tricks — it means recognizing and seeing through the mental fabrications that form deception. When you realize this deception, it disappears. Then you will touch the true knower. When this happens, you will not hate anyone. You will analyze even the mind of one who is cruel to you. Now tell me, how can we decode this so that compassion transforms and remains as the essence within our own minds?
The code is to distinguish between thought and wisdom. Thought is memory creating illusions. Wisdom is the data of knowledge, discerning truth and the cycle of existence (saṃsāra). This causes those memories to be embedded. When you shed illusions, your mind will be free from trapped developments. Doing so, you will see the highest truth and understand the metaphorical explanations.
