About the event

The Art of Assisting: An Embodied Approach to Hands-On Teaching
Learn to assist not just with your hands, but with your presence.

Discover the transformative power of embodied touch in this immersive 3-hour workshop designed for yoga teachers who want to deepen their skill and confidence in offering safe, empowering, and intuitive hands-on assists.

We’ll explore the art and ethics of physical assists through the lens of mindfulness, energetic awareness, and nervous system safety. Learn how to observe your students clearly, offer intentional support, and apply touch as a tool for deepening connection—not correction.

Whether you’re new to assisting or refining your approach, this workshop will help you:
• Understand consent, boundaries, and energetic hygiene
• Explore the mechanics of safe and effective assists across key postural categories
• Practice embodied presence and grounding techniques to assist from your center
• Use your assists to foster trust, empowerment, and transformation on the mat

About the Teacher:

Melisa Uchida, ERYT-500, founder of MaKa Movement RYS and The Strength in Stillness Method, has been teaching yoga, Pilates, and mindful movement for over 25 years. Rooted in the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga system and informed by her intuitive abilities as a mystic and healer, Melisa brings a unique blend of precision, presence, and soul to her teaching. Her love of the human body, coupled with deep energetic sensitivity, creates a learning environment that is both skillful and sacred.
You’ll leave this workshop with a more refined eye, a grounded touch, and the confidence to assist from a place of deep integrity and embodied awareness.
