Advocates Assemble! This exciting community celebration is open to everyone, whether you're part of the Down syndrome community or a passionate ally ready to step up and make a difference.
**What to Expect:
- Superhero face painting and costumed characters
- Prizes, games, and local family resources
- A remembrance section honoring loved ones with Down syndrome
- A chance to pledge your support as an advocate
This year’s theme, “Advocates Assemble,” reminds us that advocacy takes all of us, and every person who steps up helps build a more inclusive world.
**Can’t attend in person? No problem, you can still walk in your own community or donate to support a team.
**Why Step Up? For decades, the Down Syndrome Association of Maryland has been a cornerstone of the community, providing resources, advocacy, and connection.
But our work is far from over: New families join our community each year, and community members with Down syndrome are growing older than ever before.
DSAmd's commitment to providing comprehensive support is becoming even more essential as we grow, and the community changes.
In the last 5 years, the Association has grown exponentially - and you can help sustain and expand on that growth:
- 150+% increase in number of events
- Expansion of support on Maryland's Eastern Shore
- Brand new therapeutic programming including free and low-cost speech therapy, improvisation class to build self-advocacy skills, and boxing classes for coordination and strength
Through this event and all of our work, we highlight that individuals with Down syndrome are vital and valued members of our larger communities. Step Up with Us!
We have a set a goal of raising $100,000 to fuel next year's programming. Every dollar, and every advocate, makes a difference.
