Open Mic & Cocoa Night is a warm, welcoming space for creativity, connection, and community. Join us for an evening of poetry, music, spoken word, storytelling, and artistic expression — all while enjoying hot cocoa in a relaxed, supportive environment.
This event is part of the ICAN Initiative (I Create. I Aspire. I Navigate.), a program of the 29th Street Community Center focused on empowering youth and adults through creative expression, leadership development, and access to opportunity. Proceeds support programs that create safe spaces for voices to be heard, confidence to be built, and creativity to thrive.
To support families in attendance, child care will be provided during the event, featuring a creative arts experience for children led by local artist Sekou Johnson of The Art of Koo. While adults enjoy the open mic, children will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on artistic expression in a safe, supervised environment.
Whether you’re stepping up to the mic or coming to listen and support, this event offers more than entertainment, it’s an opportunity to invest in community, culture, and connection.
Come for the cocoa. Take the mic. Leave knowing you helped make an impact.
