ABOUT DOWNTOWN TUMBAO
Downtown Tumbao is a powerhouse Latin Jazz band forged in Mexico City and now based right here in Baltimore. This multi-generational ensemble creates an original, synergistic sound that lives in the borderlands—merging Afro-Caribbean and Brazilian beats into an unforgettable fusion of Jazz, Samba, Cumbia, Bolero, and Son.
The band brings together rising DMV talent with seasoned musicianship, experimenting at the crossroads of new and perennial themes. With vocals, sax, keyboard, bass guitar, percussion, and drums, Downtown Tumbao delivers high-energy rhythms, rich driving tumbaos, and sultry vocals that celebrate the music of Latin America in an act of restoration and revival.
