In the Belly of the Whale: A Night of Puppetry, Klezmer, and Joyful Resistance

Attention! Attention! Calling one and all to bring their weird and wonderful performances to Hinenu's upcoming night of puppetry, klezmer, and joyous resistance! The theme for the evening is "In the Belly of the Whale".

The Book of Jonah is read on Yom Kippur, centering around the prophet Jonah as he runs away from his responsibilities, but cannot escape them--and is eventually swallowed by a Big Fish so he can sit in the belly of the whale and think about his choices.

The night will end with a performance of "Mariners Revenge" by the Decemberists, and the eating and digestion of the klezmer band.

This night of revelry and introspection will take place on Saturday, September 27th at Homewood Friends Meeting. We will kick off the night with a short havdalah service and will end with a klezmer jam and dance party!
