The Johns Hopkins University Debate Council would like to formally invite the 2025 novice cohort to a gravity-filled Newtonian experience this autumn! You will get a weekend to explore F=Mg on October 3rd-4th in Baltimore, Maryland, where novices will fall into a beautiful tournament and hopefully maximize their potential energy!
Our tournament will consist of six tight-link, Opp flex motions rounds in addition to outrounds. We are expecting to break to quarters, though this may change based on the number of teams and judges attending.

For every team competing, the fees are $150 and an extra $30 for participants registered past the deadline.
This year we are PAY TO PLAY. This means that teams will not be allowed to compete at Hopnov without a proof of payment.

JUDGING
The judging requirement is (n-1)/2, rounded up. To count, the judge must be a varsity. The missing judge fee is $80. There will be a calibration for all varsity judges. However, if you are a dino, you will be auto calibrated.

HOUSING & FOOD
We will be providing very limited crash housing so please indicate whether you need one in your form response. We will be prioritizing schools that are further away from JHU. The form below also covers any dietary restrictions regarding the food we will provide for the tournament. We will be serving Indian food and pizza for lunch and dinner, and bagels for breakfast.
