Fall Foliage Hike
Trees dressed in bright reds, sunny yellows, and fiery oranges! Explore with us, examine different types of leaves, and learn about the amazing things that happen when the leaves change color.
Meet at least five minutes before the start time on the porch of Cruit House.
This is the first of five 2025 fall foliage hikes! See below for information about the others in the series.
Suggested Audience
This program is for all ages. Parts of the trails are rugged making them unsuitable for strollers and wagons.
What to Bring
Bring your own drinking water. You may wish to consider using an insect repellent.
Pets, Yes!
Well-mannered pets are welcome to join us on this hike. Note that pets are not allowed inside any buildings, but but are welcome outside and on the trails at Smeck Park. They must be under control at all times and on a leash no longer than 6’. For the health and safety of all, pick up and properly dispose of pets’ waste.

Five fall foliage hikes are scheduled in four Fairfield County Park District locations.
1 of 5 – Smeck Park
Saturday, October 4
3:00-5:00 p.m., meet at least five minutes before start time in front of Cruit House
Pets Welcome
Smeck Park is at 7395 Basil Rd, south of OH-256, in Baltimore.

2 of 5 – Wahkeena Nature Preserve*
Sunday, October 19
1:00-2:30 p.m., meet at least five minutes before start time in the nature center
*No Pets (Pets are not allowed in nature preserves.)
Wahkeena Nature Preserve is at 2200 Pump Station Rd, in Sugar Grove.

3 of 5 – Mambourg Park
Saturday, October 25
2:00-4:00 p.m., meet at least five minutes before start time in the nature center
Pets Welcome
Mambourg Park is at 5531 Cincinnati-Zanesville Rd NE (US-22), in Lancaster.

Sunday, October 26
10:00-11:00 a.m., meet at least five minutes before start time in the picnic shelter

Cross Mound Park is at 11615 16th Rd SW, in Stoutsville (near Tarlton).
