La Loupe: Exploring Light and Shape in Intimate Spaces📍 Blue Light Junction (note: small step at entrance)📅 Thursday, September 12🕔 Open Studio & Refreshments: 5–6:30pm🎤 Artist Talk: 6:30–7:30pm
Join us for an evening of art, conversation, and light at Blue Light Junction. This special La Loupe Artist Talk spotlights Baltimore-based artist Jorgelina López, who will share her creative journey from textiles into lighting design, and the collaborative beginnings of La Loupe.
Through images, stories, and a hands-on mini light demo exploring materials, Jorgelina will reflect on how materials transform when illuminated, and how light shapes our most intimate spaces. The evening will also connect to Inviting Light's next opening piece by Ekene Ijeoma in the Greenmount West neighborhood, only a few blocks away from Blue Light Junction! Inviting Light is a community-based lighting project exploring creative illumination in public space.
This event is perfect for:✨ Artists and makers curious about working with light✨ Designers interested in material exploration✨ Anyone inspired by the intersection of art, craft, and design

About Inviting Light:
Informed by the Station North Public Space Plan and Signal Station North, a two-year community engagement, planning, and prototyping process that sought to understand light's impact on the nighttime environment and our sense of comfort and place, illuminate the city's lighting history and infrastructure, and bring transparency and access to everyday citizens, Inviting Light’s five distinct artistic light installations will promote safety and further revitalization efforts in a historically disinvested area.
Inviting Light is sponsored by Bloomberg Philanthropies and facilitated by Central Baltimore Partnership in partnership with the Mayor’s Office and Senior Advisor for Arts & Culture, and the Neighborhood Design Center. Read more about the award here.
