About the event

Curator Tour: Pets, Pests, and Predators in Egyptian Art
Animals played many roles in ancient Egyptian life, some of which were helpful to humans while others were bothersome or even dangerous. The animals’ perceived powers also directly connected them to the gods of the Egyptian pantheon. This tour, led by Lisa Anderson-Zhu, Curator of Ancient Mediterranean Art and Curator of Provenance, will highlight some of the artistic depictions of wild and domesticated animals on view in the Ancient Egyptian art galleries at the Walters.
