Utopia Unlimited Teams Up with Youlgrave Village Hall for Two-Day ‘Pirates of Penzance’ Youth Workshop
Utopia Unlimited, Derbyshire’s inclusive youth theatre company, is delighted to announce a brand new two-day musical theatre workshop coming to Youlgrave this summer! In partnership with Youlgrave Village Hall, we will be running a fun-filled Pirates of Penzance workshop on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th August, designed especially for the young people of the village.
This exciting project will introduce local participants to the wonderfully comic world of Gilbert and Sullivan, as they learn and perform a selection of scenes and chorus numbers from the operetta. It’s a perfect way for new performers to build confidence, meet others, and get a taste of theatre in a friendly, inclusive environment.
The workshop is also part of a wider goal to encourage more young people to get involved in the village pantomime and other local theatrical events.
While our regular Musical Director is unavailable for these dates, we are thrilled to announce that the incomparable Chris Flint—arguably the best Gilbert and Sullivan pianist in the country—will be joining us for this special workshop.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Phil Smith, who has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help bring this workshop to life.
The workshops will cost £15 a session or a subsidised £10 a session for students of Youlgrave Primary or Lady Manners.
