Details:
Join us for a powerful, donation-based sewing workshop where creativity meets activism. In this hands-on session, we’ll come together to create a quilted banner as a collective expression of resistance, and solidarity. Whether you want to raise awareness, speak out against injustice, or stand in unity with others—this is your space to make art that inspires action....
Donations: The funds donated for this workshop will 100% go directly to a local Kern County volunteer organization that are fighting for Kern immigrants....
No sewing experience is needed. All materials provided. Come as you are, and let your voice rise—one stitch at a time...
**** Although this is beginner friendly, this workshop is focused on finishing a banner over learning to sew. I will have machines prethreaded, will do a small demo of how to operate a sewing machine and there will be a short practice time, but the majority of this time is to be focused on creating the banner. All this to say, if you do not know how to operate a machine, PLEASE do not let this discourage you. You will be successful in this workshop, we just wont be going over sewing machine details in depth as we normally do in workshops like these....
WHAT WOULD BE HELPFUL: Coming to class with your poster/banner word/words already chosen. This will help in having ample time to create your banner. This is NOT REQUIRED-you could become inspired while being at the workshop....
Schedule: 10am- SoundBath Evelyn will be joining us to start our workshop off to get grounded and open up our creative flow. This will be a seated 15 min session. More information on soundbaths linked here with her website:
