We invite you to attend the 250th community Parkrun at Peppertree Park at 7:45am on Saturday 7 February. To mark the occasion, Parkrun participants and other community members will be bringing toilet paper for a light-hearted photo opportunity as part of our campaign to see a toilet funded in the 2026 Moorabool Shire Council Budget.
As you may be aware, costings have already been completed for a standard public toilet at this reserve. With that groundwork done, we see 2026 as the right and logical year to move from planning to delivery.
Peppertree Park is no longer a lightly used local reserve. Growing Parkrun participation, general use of the walking track, and visitors passing through town all rely on this space. The absence of amenities increasingly limits who can comfortably use it, for how long, and how often. Each year of delay compounds that exclusion.
This project also presents a timely opportunity for collaboration across all levels of government. Rather than installing a standard facility now and retrofitting later, we ask Council to consider partnering with state and federal programs to deliver a Changing Places Toilet. This would be the first of its kind in Moorabool Shire and would meaningfully expand access for people with disabilities, their families and carers. It would also future-proof the reserve as usage continues to grow.
Funding this project in the 2026 budget would demonstrate Council’s commitment to inclusion, practical infrastructure, and listening to an active, growing community. It would also ensure Peppertree Park remains a place where everyone can participate.
We hope you can join us on the day and look forward to continuing this conversation.
