Welcome to Ariela's Quinceañera!
What is a Quinceañera?
It is a type of birthday celebration that highlights the rite of passage marking the transition from childhood to adulthood. This Hispanic tradition is structured similarly to a traditional wedding with formal attire, a religious ceremony, reception, wedding party, and symbolic elements throughout.
The mass (religious ceremony) focuses on a self-proclamation of faith and a blessing bestowed by a pastor. There is a gifting of a piece of jewelry that will memorialize this occasion. This portion has limited seating and is going to be more intimate in nature. As such, there will be a separate guest list for this part of the celebration.
The reception is open to all, will include food, dancing, and more symbolic traditions. Some key traditions you will see include:
The Passing of the Doll, is when the quinceañera passes ownership of a childhood doll to her younger sister, again symbolizing the transition from child to young adult. Similarly, the Changing of Shoes, is when the quinceañera exchanges her flat shoes for shoes with heels. Finally, the Waltz is the first daughter/father dance that is had after she has changed into her heels.
We would be honored to have you join us in this momentous occasion!
