Don Gil de las calzas verdes está considerada como una de las más logradas comedias del barroco español y como el mejor exponente de uno de sus recursos más propios: la mujer disfrazada de varón. En esta puesta en escena se subraya su atemporalidad enfatizando las similitudes entre las luchas de género de entonces y de ahora y mostrando que, aunque la deshonra y el casamiento forzado no sean actualmente temas prevalentes, la autonomía y la justicia siguen siendo relevantes.
