About the event

Fisherfield Eastern Three Munros
26th May 2025 | £80 / person | Spaces available

The Fisherfield Munros are generally considered to be the remotest of the Munros, situated in the middle of a large area known as the ‘Great Wilderness’. Often these are done as a backpacking trip and if you like your wild camping this is certainly the best way to visit these hills. But wild camping isn’t for everyone and it is possible to visit these hills as a pair of fairly lengthy day walks. This day is a bike-and-hike to visit the eastern half of the Fisherfield group.

The hills:
SGÙRR BÀN (989m) – White peak

MULLACH COIRE MHIC FHEARCHAIR (1018m) – Summit of the coire of Farquhar’s son

BEINN TARSUINN (937m) – Transverse hill

The route:
33km | 1420m | 10 – 12 hours (12km cycling)

Starting from the usual starting point for the Western Fannichs a track leads in to Lochivraon Bothy. Leaving the bikes here a rough path leads on into the wilds with Sgùrr Ban and the Mullach straight ahead. After a stream crossing, this route goes up some amazing quartzite slabs onto Sgùrr Ban (or up the side if the slabs are wet). A couple of steep up and downs link the Munros, before cutting down to follow the route of the Cape Wrath Trail through the Bealach na Croise. From the bealach a faint trail leads back to the path used on the earlier part of the day, which in turn leads back to the bikes.

Experience required:
This walk is aimed at experienced summer hillwalkers with a high level of hill fitness.

Kit required:
Check out my summer hillwalking kit list through my website. For the cycling part of the day, a mountain bike is recommended and a helmet is required.

Cost:
£80 / person

Spaces:
The trip requires a minimum of 2 bookings to go ahead | Maximum group size of 6 people | spaces available
