Coming to a place of balance, is one of the core principles of yoga. In this training for addiction, recovery yoga, we will look at the ways in which relaxation meditation and yoga can help bring clients back to a place of balance.
Addiction is often referred to as a spiritual disease. The addition of yoga into recovery can help people to reconnect with spirituality and something larger than themselves. We will discuss the changes to the nervous system and the mind when addicted.
As a yoga teacher you will learn how yogic philosophy and practices can assist with recovery and where they can be presented in classes.
The instructors Laura Kirtan Marcotte and JennyO have both worked extensively in the field of addiction in hospital settings as well as recovery centers. Whether you’re someone that’s working with addiction in your life or a close friend relative, this course will help give you information and insight into how to work with this population.
Our in person hours will be at Practice Yoga. As part of this course you will be required to spend outside time journaling with prompted questions, practicing daily mindfulness, attend 2 Al-Anon, NA or AA meetings and write about your experience. Also, design a series of classes for recovery that feedback will be provided for.
This course covers 30 hours for 300 HR elective credit or CEUs with Yoga Alliance.
