VIBE Weekend Downtown Austin

Inaugural two-day event invites the public to discover new and old Austin stories through music, art and culture in historic downtown areas

AUSTIN, Texas — At the Future of Downtown last week, Downtown Austin Alliance Foundation announced the official save-the-date for VIBE Weekend, a new downtown experience celebrating stories of Austin through music, art and culture. Launching on September 19 and 20, the inaugural two-day event will be free and open to the public, featuring live and unique musical performances, art installations and all-ages creative experiences on Old Sixth Street.

“We are thrilled to introduce ‘VIBE’ Downtown,” Raasin McIntosh, Vice President of Active Urbanism at the Downtown Austin Alliance, said. “This annual event reflects our commitment to fostering an inclusive, sustainable and culturally rich environment that enhances the vibe, vitality and value of downtown Austin for everyone.”

Vibe Weekend 2025 will transform the historic 500 block of Old 6th Street on September 19 and 20, showcasing Austin's vibrant culture through local makers, murals, and music. The event will take place at two venues: 

• 508 E Sixth Street, Austin, TX 78701 
• 522 E Sixth Street Parking Lot, Austin, TX 78701

The program, which has been pre-emptively designed to fund $30,000 in commissions for local artists and creatives, emerged from a year-long public engagement process facilitated by 501c3 arts and culture organization Future Front Texas. Reflecting feedback from an array of cultural stakeholders, VIBE offers more than a weekend to remember. The experience builds a bridge toward gaps in economic prosperity and addresses urgent needs to cultivate art, culture and community downtown.
