AI, Work, and the Workforce: From Micro, to Meso, to Macro
AI is rewriting the rules of work faster than you can say “ChatGPT.” But what does that really mean for hiring, skills, and the laws that (try to) keep up? Join Dr. Fred Oswald for a no-fluff, three-level dive into AI’s impact—from how companies hire, to how jobs evolve, to how policies protect (or don’t).
In this session. Dr. Oswald will lead the discussion about the role of AI in work and the workforce at the micro, meso, and macro levels. At the micro level, he will engage the group on the topic of the role of AI in recruitment and employment testing. What are the scientific, legal, and ethical implications of AI when it drives the content, interaction, and quantification behind recruitment and hiring? At the meso level, he will solicit ideas and discussion about how AI impacts the nature of work and the workforce. What new skills will employees need, and what existing skills for a job will matter even more? How is AI supplementing, replacing, and creating jobs in the labor market? Finally, at the macro level, he will raise issues around existing and needed AI policies at the state, federal, and international levels that either serve to protect job applicants or ultimately leave them vulnerable. How can the laws be written to cover all forms of AI talent management? What are the upsides and downsides of AI and AI laws for protecting the rights of job applicants? This lively discussion will transition naturally into happy hour.
Join us for aha‑moments, a dash of humor, and maybe one or two plot twists of how the robots are taking our jobs.
