Kid’s Clay Club

ATX Kiln Club presents Kids Clay Club! This club meets weekly to create fun projects out of clay. Kids will explore fundamental techniques for making pottery and sculpture.

Every week we will work on open-ended clay project while learning how to use coils, slabs, and texture. Kids will have the opportunity to personalize each project wifh their own unique creative ideas, and students will be encouraged to think outside the box as they work.

Glazing and Firing

Students who return weekly will have the opportunity to add color and glaze to their projects as they become available after bisque firing. Students who attend single sessions will have their pieces glazed (typically in white or a single color) by the studio. Pieces will usually take about 3-4 weeks from creation to be ready for pickup.

About the Venue

Clay Club takes place in our home in southwest Austin. We hold the club on our backyard patio. The area is shaded with overhead fans. Parents are welcome to join as a participant, hang out inside with the a/c , join us on the patio, or drop kids off for club time.

We may also visit the ATX Kiln Club studio located in our converted garage.

About the teacher

Mary Helen is the mom of two art loving kids, a working artist, a studio owner (ATX kiln club), and an experienced art instructor for both kids and adults.
