Gabby La La's new book, NOT THE PATH OF TOTALITY, is a visual memoir dissecting La La's life between January and June 2024. This project developed on the coat tails of Inktober 2023, when La La discovered a deep seeded obsession with painting everyday. NOT THE PATH OF TOTALITY is now available via this website!
Gabby La La is a multi-disciplinary artist who studied Sitar and Voice under Maestro Ali Akbar Khan for over 10 years. She earned a BFA in Sitar Performance from The California Institute of the Arts in 2001 and has since performed and recorded internationally both under her own name and with notable artists including Les Claypool, P Funk, Bernie Worrell, Prince Paul, Macy Gray, Snoop Dogg, and The Coup. ASMR Crafting with Sayuri and Gabby La La film, "Candy Sandwich" was awarded "Funniest Video" at SPLIFF Film Festival in 2018!
La La made her recording debut with “Be Careful What You Wish For…” on Prawn Song Records in 2005. She toured nationally and also appeared as a member of Les Claypool’s band for several years in support of this album.
La La has released a double single and 12" record with her band Snow Angel, 2 full length albums under her own name, and most recently a handful of singles under her own name. Look for a full length album coming soon!
Look for Tune Tales, a musical story podcast for kids from La La's band Kit'n'Tenders, available for streaming on all podcast platforms!
Gabby La La lives in Oakland with her husband and child and a small chihuahua terrier. When she is not making art or making lunch, she spends her time painting and listening to audiobooks.
