It’s not an untold tale to hear about an artist from West Texas that ends up in private collections and galleries around the globe.  But this story is different. This is the tale of an artist from West Texas that went around the world working in construction and convenience stores and managed to attract art buyers from the Prime Minister of Greece to collectors in a bustling Santa Fe Gallery with no manager or formal representation.The story rings true for artist David James, the multi-faceted artist who finally settled in Austin, Texas after stints in the Far East, Spain, and the Ukraine (to name a few places). After decades of working with private collectors and galleries, David chose a reclusive  life to focus on his wife and son and new projects he’d had up his sleeve for years. And so now, after nearly 35 years, David and Ao5 Gallery have curated a collection of 16 original oil paintings from the 1990s into the 2020’s.  This collection of hidden gems will finally see gallery walls in September after being stored away for decades.Anyone familiar with musical icons such as Nina Simon or Charles Aznavour will see their reflections in some of his newest work in the collection.  And those with a keen eye will recognize his past influences in many of the older pieces from oil masters such as Cezanne, Gaugin, and, of course, Van Gogh.
