Does one need to be a monk to be a renunciate? What does renunciation ACTUALLY mean? Can one be a renunciate and still live "in the world"? How do we strike the balance? Do knowledge and work lead to the same results? How do we find the balance and which to choose first? All this and more is clarified in this chapter, "The Yoga of True Renunciation". As Krishna says, "He who neither hates nor desires the fruits of his actions is a true renunciate."
For the purposes of this book club/study group, we will be using Eknath Easwaran's 2nd edition version of the Bhagavad Gita. This book was chosen as it is less heavy on some of the Sanskrit terminology and will be much easier to read for those not already familiar with this text. It is also inexpensive to purchase and easy to find. Ideally, all participants will have read the chapter prior to the meeting, so that the time may be spent in discussion and clarification of the text.
We will be serving GF/CF/vegan Chai and snacks for those attending!
