A Different Thread
Alicia Best (USA) and Robert Jackson (UK) met busking on the streets of Ireland, sparking a musical connection that became A Different Thread. Since then, they’ve toured across more than a dozen countries, sharing stages with artists like The Milk Carton Kids and Jody Stephens (Big Star), and earning acclaim from Folk Radio UK as “warm, deep songwriters that have drunk from the well of 20th-century tradition.”
Their sound blends Jackson’s British folk-rock roots with Best’s North Carolina-born alt-country flair—infused with gospel harmonies, honky-tonk fiddle, and lyrics that explore everything from love across borders to social and environmental justice. Influences include Gillian Welch, The Avett Brothers, and John Prine, yet their voice remains distinctly their own.

Anna La Mare (Lah MAH-ray)
Singer-songwriter Anna La Mare offers songs that are as vulnerable as they are courageous: music that feels like a safe harbor in stormy waters. Described as “emotional honey,” “a folky Florence and the Machine,” and “a soul-driven embodiment of Joni Mitchell,” her voice is both ghostly and grounded, echoing the nomadic spirit that shapes her work as this troubadour continues to split her time between NC, TX and beyond.
With a haunting, soulful voice and stories gathered from her life on the road, Anna’s sound is deep and poetic, evocative and transporting, enlivening the wanderer in every listener.
